Don’t have time to volunteer, but still want to help? How about sponsoring a rider or a horse? The very nature of our program, results in high overhead costs. Keeping horses in Alaska, though absolutely worth the effort is an extraordinarily expensive venture. In order to keep this program going and growing, the income STRIDE receives from program fees must be augmented with donations of both funds and pro-bono services.

How You Can Help

Your contributions are needed in many ways. Three volunteers are needed for every rider to help lead the horse and ensure the rider’s safety. Monetary contributions are used to purchase equipment and helmets, or you can sponsor a rider who cannot afford the nominal fee. A corporate donor can support a horse! With your active support, we are working to expand this program year around in an indoor facility. Your help will allow our riders to STRIDE into the future!

We currently have space for 32 clients each summer. Expanding our program to serve additional clients on a year round basis requires more funding and community support. Because we see the huge strides toward greater independence that our clients make each summer during our eight-week program, we feel that the time has come to grow STRIDE into a year round program and to do that successfully, we have on-going needs and a wish list for a riding facility that would be owned and operated by STRIDE.
